  •  A major snow episode is more seasonal (6+ / 0-)

If I have time between cooking, maybe I'll do a diary on the Blizzard of 1978/9.  I was living in Columbus at the time, and it was quite an experience.

Oregon: Sure...it's cold. But it's a damp cold.

    •  I was here (Clintonville / Beechwold area) and I (6+ / 0-)

actually made it to work the next day.

Also remember well the Winter of '84-85 which was so bitterly cold, and a trip to Cincy that same Winter which started out kinda rainy / sleety as I left Columbus late one afternoon and was so bad by the time I got to the truck plazas 30 miles South I was tucked in behind a semi rolling along at about 10 MPH in 1st gear -- following him off Exit 69 because the OHP had just closed the interstate.

I finished the trip to Cincy the next morning -- the whole way in 2nd gear -- and it was nothing but snow drifts filled with cars and semis that had slid off.

      What. A. Mess.

And once again, it's RIP progressive radio in Columbus, Ohio.

      •  That work ethic is pretty much history (3+ / 0-)

I was driving a VW Bug at the time, and that winter taxed even Columbus, which was usually pretty much on top of snow plowing.

I remember driving to work in 6 inches of snow on the roads when I left for work, not knowing what the roads would look like when my shift was done.  But you went.
