brigades this kind of thing would never happen.

Guns don't kill people, a lack of guns kills people.

    •  There were armed police on scene (7+ / 0-)

There was nothing they could do -- or, rather, they did the right thing: They established a perimeter, kept out traffic, and waited until other police could arrive to control the scene.

      The firefighters were already dead.

It was a fucking sniper attack. What are three guys with handguns, or twenty guys with assault rifles going to do facing a sniper nest?

Maybe it would be better to say that "Guns don't kill people, a lack of rapidly-deployed air support and the napalming of an entire neighborhood to wipe out a hidden sniper's nest kills people."

Who cares how many people are killed, wounded and made homeless as long as the "bad guy" is killed?

The reality-based community understands that no number of guns no matter how big, how long, how hard, or how muscular and sweaty and macho the men, the manly, men, manfully handing their enormous guns, their hard, hot guns, manfully stroking them until they shoot! shoot over and over, shoot into the hard, hot body of the bad guy, filling him with their hot, hot lead -- wait where was I? Oh, right, no number of guns would have saved the lives of those firefighters. The police on scene didn't find Spengler until he was dead by his own hand.

More guns, no matter how many, would have made zero difference.
