    •  I'm guessing this wasn't just a "trap" . . . (23+ / 0-)

I'm going to go out on a limb here but my intuition has been nagging me all day - ever since I read this story on the news. Here are some other possible scenarios:

      1. The killer wanted the house to burn down to the ground, so he took out the first-responders who might stop that from happening.

      A. To hide a body inside (or bodies). His sister, maybe? And how did his mother die last October. Article didn't answer that.

      B. To burn someone to death that was inside the house, possibly tied up and couldn't escape.

      C. The house was in foreclosure and he didn't want the bank to get it back.

There are probably even more scenarios that will keep me awake tonight, like he wanted the whole neighborhood to burn down because he thought people were talking about him, disliking him, who knows what else.

Same result - he didn't want anyone putting the fire out. I don't believe it was him that called 911, but I could be wrong.

I hope more details come out so we can make some sense of it, if that's possible. But I'm definitely not convinced he deliberately set a trap to take out first responders.

But heck, go ahead and get that vest. The way things are going, we're all going to need one pretty soon.

Imagine if the author was functioning as an EMT in Pakistan or Yemen, where the expressed policy of the US government is to bomb civiliam houses (causing them to blow up and burn), wait ten or 15 minutes for the EMTs and firemen to arrive, and then bomb the pile of rubble to kill the EMTs and firemen.

Because, according to our liberal president, anyone (including kids) living in a house where there is a terrorist (however that word is defined), is guilty of supporting terrorism and deserves to be bombed.  And anyone coming to the aid of terrorists and their supporters who have just been bombed must also support terrorism, and therefore also deserve to be bombed.

If it is wrong for scared or angry people to try and kill firemen here in the US, it is also wrong for a scared and angry country to try and kill firemen in other countries.
