  •  I certainly don't blame you for feeling afraid (1+ / 0-)

and for taking any measures (kevlar) that make you feel more secure and able to do your job.

I predict that eventually all this heat will cool off, give it a few months for some gun legislation and a couple years or so after that, and things will normalize a bit, like they did in Australia. Of course, politically it will be an emotional fight to get there, but we will.

You deal with situations all the time that would make most of us very afraid--I mean the emergencies you take care of. How do EMT's handle such scary stuff? By having a plan, being trained, having experience and having the right equipment. If somebody fell over right in front of me I wouldn't have any idea what to do, but you probably have a 3-point, or 5-point or whatever plan that you would initiate instantly. While I stand there quivering in shock.

So I think that safety concerns will be integrated into your plans, become part of the routine, training and practice and eventually will be somewhat less frightening. It is a shame, though, a terrible shame that our country is like a war zone. Thanks for all your hard work....and I wish peace for all of us.

I love it that Obama's channeling Harry Truman: "I don't give 'em hell; I just tell the truth and they think it's hell!"
