Also, I am not clear how this isn't Big Brother crap; I thought Progressives opposed McCarthy moves like these? What's preventing people from publishing lists of "known Communists" next. What about people with marijuana dispensary cards? On and on.

I'm curious if this is legal.

Regardless, it's dangerous for the reason that you mention. Also, it seems like a privacy violation. And I SUPPORT increased gun regulation and reform. But not through this measure. I support nearly every other one I've heard thus far.

And anyone who knows the area KNOWS that Westchester and Rockland are extremely segregated areas, racially and economically, so there will probably be a higher number of minorities on these "lists." If you factor White Plains and Spring Valley, for example. I find that problematic too.

and a supporter of gun control, I put this in the category of something the Journal News may have legally been able to do, but definitely shouldn't have.

That's a pretty wealthy area. One of the wealthiest in the nation in some parts.

I grew up near there. I just looked up a handful of friends, actually, who I know live in these counties.

Are Bill and Hillary Clinton still living over in Chappaqua? If so, are they on "the list"?

FOIA's can't always be published by law, to my knowledge. Information that's obtainable is not necessarily publishable. That's what I'm curious about.

        Gannett's always been sketchy.

Very curious about the legality of this.

Even the phone book can't publish your address if you request them not to.

Why don't they just publish a list of Jewish people too? Or black people? That's legal census data, after all.
