  •  Go out into your henhouse at find a pit bull (0+ / 0-)

waiting for you inside while another circles around behind. Good thing it was me and not my first grader that day who went to get the eggs.

Fun is being confronted by snarling pissed off dogs in your chicken yard.

I held my own but if I had been elderly or a small child the outcome could have been tragic.

Dogs, especially large dogs are not harmless, and they do not act the same way when they are in their yards or on a leash or with their keepers. Some become quite aggressive when away from "mommy and daddy" and that is simply no fun at all, and quite dangerous for people who cannot defend themselves due to age or infirmity.

    •  Totally agree that dogs are not harmless (0+ / 0-)

And have had by share of confrontations too, on bikes and on foot. (Used to be a garbage hauler and got really good with using a metal garbage can lid on dogs.) Dogs can be very scary, especially when it comes to children, but they can be a problem for adults too.

But, they usually don't massacre bunches of people. It's usually one or two at the most. In fact, I don't think I have ever heard about that happening.
