I am not sure how to tone it down. What did I say that was inflammatory? The commenter said that I do not have a right to protect my home, person and property with a weapon. That seems to be pretty inflammatory, to tell me that I should have no means of self-defense because someone is killing people with a machine gun, which seems unrelated to my situation.  I know they are not offering to come over to help with a frying pan should it be necessary.

That's the choice,  not zero guns.

And every time a crazy person goes crazy with guns, that makes gun control of some kind - likely a more severe kind - more likely.

As I see it the person who needs to defend their homes will have a chance to grab one weapon, two tops.

Such a person does not need or want an arsenal.

The person who thinks school shooters aren't the real problem wants that arsenal. Such a person accepts no limits at all.

Such a person is a menace to society, and likes the reputation of being one.

Such persons should not be surprised when society turns against them.

Since responsible gun owners don't want super-duper arsenals, they're not inconvenienced by common sense regulation.

Since only crazy zealot people are, I can't even begin to make myself worried on their account.
