    Are not working today.

They have servants (employees) to do things like take care of elderly family members, cook, take out the garbage.

Why spoil a good holiday with work?

My partner who works at a retail store says her boss/master won't give one of her servants/employees the day off on Christmas because the employee's job is taking care of her father who has dementia. Her boss, a rather untalented, crass, selfish woman, basically got everything she owns, including her business, from her father, but she won't be thanking him by having Christmas with him, and instead hires a caretaker who will not be having Christmas with family so that her boss can spend her time as she pleases.

This is how hierarchy works in capitalism. The further down the chain, the more you serve the ones further up the chain.

And for those who think this is the natural order of things, a "survival of the fittest" world, you fail to understand that people like this miserable boss of my partner's, are not "fitter" than anyone else, and in fact it could be argued they often have character deficits that many who work for them must help them overcome to keep them out of trouble. The employees make their world work, and without them they would be lost. They keep the world afloat despite them.

Which is why I'm in favor of a horizontal society. Abolish wage slavery, and private ownership of the means of production. Otherwise most of us will continue selling ourselves as if we are not people, but things, as if commodities, rather than humans.

As Proudhon said, property is theft.

are the most clueless about the way the world works.  They're the real "entitlement class".

I'm not opposed to the Mitt Romneys of the world, I just wish they could imagine walking in someone elses shoes for a day and carry that knowledge with them.

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.

that if you work for a Romney, you work for a totalitarian corporation. It's become so much the norm it isn't questioned. We may live in a democratic republic, but most Americans live under complete domination under the corporation they work for. They test your blood, tell you who to vote for, keep you from joining unions, dictate how you will spend your time, can lecture you about anything the please while you must keep to your station and remain quiet. While under their employ (in earlier times it was called being a servant) they own you. You are not free, unless you want to risk bankruptcy, losing insurance (if you're lucky to have it), and even homelessness.

There is no real freedom in capitalism. This is simply true, and I'm tired of remaining quiet about this reality.
