    going out to eat for Chinese is a bit of a Christmas tradition.  (Which were open because the Chinese-American owners were also not celebrating Christmas.)

      which are not part of a mainline American Christian sect. LA and NYC have dozens of economically sizable minorities like these. But at any rate, that other guy is correct that businesses are generally dead anyway.

      The expectation is that nothing's open so even some people who might be tempted to go out won't end up there because they don't want to drive around (or bus for some of us) looking for something that's open.
