  •  Thank you! (6+ / 0-)

I worked a swing/grave double last night, slept on site this morning for about 7 hours and then began another shift.  This is my "normal holiday routine" in a 24x7 data center.  I was so tired this morning that it didn't make sense, nor was it safe to drive home.  I haven't had a X-mas off in 10 years and am here so that those with little kids can spend the day together.  The double enabled the Grave Shift guy to be there when his little ones discovered what Santa had left.  My wife and step son are holding Christmas till about 11:30 tonight, when I get home.

I used to switch with RNs who had small children if they'd ask.  Others just demanded the boss put me on the schedule instead of them even if they had no young children because I had "no family" as if I'd just flown in from Neptune.  I had a family who missed me holiday after holiday for decades.

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.
