  •  I had to be at work at 6:00 am (6+ / 0-)

so I was in bed before TC published.

    Great topic, Ben!

I'd like to see a strong emphasis on real food, with waste spaces converted to edible "wilderness", and an elimination of food deserts. This would be the start towards elimination of hunger, not just in the US, but worldwide.

I'd like to see a return to manners and civility, whereby people automatically respect others without them having to "prove" themselves first. I'm not saying you have to keep on respecting them, but we should at least start with a basis of respect instead of automatic disdain and distrust.

Commensurate with that, I'd like to see people less willing to dig into other people's closets, trying to find whatever dirt they can on them, just to prove they aren't worthy of respect.  Or of holding a youthful indiscretion over their heads their entire life long. People do grow up and learn from their mistakes. Those about them should recognize this and allow it to happen.

I'd like to see a stronger emphasis on "green" building, energy, and business practices, and an expansion into other countries so we no longer have "Third World" countries. This includes the food concept, too.

I'd love to see the DiPietro engine commercially available.

was written by Noddy surprises me not at all! I think your suggestions are excellent ones. Once upon a time, Jill Richardson (mostly under her OrangeClouds name) wrote a great deal on Daily Kos about quality, locally-grown, sustainable, natural foods, a niche I don't believe has really been filled. But from what I can see, you could write intelligently and authoritatively on that subject, if you wished to keep a narrow focus. (Please don't! Unless that's really what you want to do!)

I, too, would love to see a return to civility. I don't see anything involving human behavior happening 'automatically,' but it would be great if that were the default position everyone started from. I know very few of the decision-makers on the other side are inclined that way - politically very little advantage is to be obtained from that for them - but maybe there are enough open-minded, progressive people to lead the way. Just speaking for myself here, treating others with respect isn't about what they deserve. It is about expressing myself consistent with my own SELF-respect. In ways, respectfully interacting with people who may not deserve it can be a more powerful statement anyway! It is not weakness. Anyone who thinks its is is making a mistake I believe they will regret! ,

I wish you could speak with my sister about green engineering. I know of no one outside that 'industry' who has researched it to the degree she has. Perhaps you have, Noddy! I know you have a 'sense' of things that way.

Thank you so much for writing about the DiPietro engine! Truly fascinating! I'm going to study this one, myself! I am a it fan of Popular Mechanics magazine for info on things like that, and of Popular Science magazine! Oh do we have some smart people out there! And more coming!

Again, thank you for a truly excellent response! I am in your debt! (Happily so!)
