  •  No mention of this in the morning "news" (11+ / 0-)

on NPR. Happy talk, plus a couple of breathless features about how China is opening a Beijing-Guangchou highspeed rail link after only five years of construction (take that! American governors who turn down money for rail links).

    Real financial news? Nada.

To do this on Christmas Day? Aren't they amusing, talk about burying the news.

We are often so identified with whatever thoughts we may be having that we don’t realize the thoughts are a commentary on reality, and not reality itself. -- Gangaji

that Chinese rail link is pretty inspiring, isn't it? Of course I'm not talking about the corners cut during construction or the citizens displaced etc.

But getting a high speed rail project done in less than a decade...roughly the distance between NYC and Key West, was it?...that's kinda cool. Considering that California's  questionable routing for its high speed rail project will take decades to complete and barely connect the Bay Area to So Cal. And that's a success story for HSR in the US.
