about a company trying to draw attention to this issue. We all agree some compromise is needed, and everyone will complain about the result.

I don't see the harm in this. If you don't like Starbucks business plan or their coffee, that's fine. But no reason to be so critical on front page here.

Not all of us agree that any compromise should be made. There is nothing unreasonable about the Democrats' original position: income taxes revert to Clinton-era levels, long-term UI is funded at current levels, etc., etc.

What is it that you want to give away?

but I always see dKos referred to as a reality-based community.

Obama has been quite clear about compromise- what that means remains to be seen. There will be revenue increases AND funding cuts.

If it were up to me, all the cuts would be in defense budget, but I don't think that will happen at a level to satisfy everyone. Other options, maybe cuts to big farmers in the Farm Bill (protect family farms)?

I agree repubs must define what they want to cut so Dems don't just negotiate with themselves about what to cut. However, like it or not, here will be cuts somewhere. I am not defending the cuts (until we know what they are), just trying to be realistic.
