    the Crown-appointed government in the colonies. We didn't keep the Royal Governors around -- we replaced them with our own domestic (and outlawed by the King) governance structures, which were significantly different than what had existed before. It was absolutely a revolution, just as Haiti's was even though Toussaint L'Ouverture didn't try to overthrow the French government.
