  •  It's harder to go from (6+ / 0-)

the east coast to Europe than from Europe to the east coast, but I don't know how jet lag works w/ Hawaii.

It's not easy being a Floridian: PS I'm a lawYER now; no longer a lawSTUDENT.

    •  Me too. Getting up earlier is hard for me. (5+ / 0-)

When you go several time zones east, you need to re-set your clock to get up a lot earlier.  That's hard for me, but I'm definitely not a 'morning person'.  In fact, I often complain

Why is half of every day's sunshine wasted on morning?
I find travelling west much easier -- I have no problem staying up late and then sleeping late.

It may be that 'morning people' are the opposite, and adjust more easily to travelling east.

For people like me, travel from the central time zone to Europe is much easier if I can get a short flight to a gateway city -- Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, or Chicago -- and then take a sleeping pill as soon as they put dinner in front of me on the long leg of the flight.  I eat, then fall asleep at 8 or 9 in the evening by the time at home.  The flight is 7 hours or more, so I can get close to 6 hours of sleep, and wake up with my 'clock re-set'.  That doesn't work well flying from the East Coast; the flight isn't long enough to sleep more than 4 hours.

We're all pretty strange one way or another; some of us just hide it better. "Normal" is a dryer setting.
