Dana Bash reporting that Obama is sending a scaled back fiscal cliff bill to the Hill today, I guess daring Congress to vote against it?

    •  Nope - not happening (0+ / 0-)

White House officials denied Thursday that President Barack Obama would send a scaled-back proposal to Capitol Hill to avoid the harshest impacts of the fiscal cliff.

A Republican senator said Obama told Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, that the president's plan would arrive on Thursday, and a Senate Democratic leadership member also said that was the approach being taken. Both sources spoke to CNN on condition of not being identified further.

In addition, GOP Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts posted on his Facebook page: "Just learned that the Pres. reached out to Senate GOP leadership with a proposal. It is the first such proposal to be put forth."

However, two White House officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the president was not sending a proposal to Congress.

Others have simply gotten old. I prefer to think I've been tempered by time.
