  •  Great post, Ojibwa. (10+ / 0-)

We have several Navajo rugs, including a couple small ones we purchased at the Hubbell trading post.

The rug room there is an incredible experience.

One we bought is a small one and is the first one that a young girl made that her grandmother thought was good enough to sell; got a Polaroid of her holding the blanket along with the paperwork authenticating it.

Our favorite though is a large Linda Nez pictorial, about 5 feet wide by 4 feet tall. It's a very detailed pictorial showing the inside of a two-story trading post. Lots of people in it, including a few tourists. It's one of those things that the more you look at it, the more you see in it.  It includes a Navajo woman sitting at a loom, weaving--so actually has a rug within the rug. We love it.

If I wasn't so technically inept I'd post a picture of it.

When atlatls are outlawed, only outlaws will have atlatls.
