Hmm...Wanna play 20 questions and see if we either know each other or can figure the other's identity?  Not so many cetacean paleontologists out there and I know a bunch of em quite well!

...so I don't want to be TOO obvious about my identity. But I'm probably easy to track down with my comment history and a Google search.

You're right, there aren't many cetacean folks out there.

      •  Indeed! (2+ / 0-)

It only took me three clicks to find you.  I don't think we've met, but I would not rule it out, particularly if it was late night at SVP!  I am good friends with both Marks that work on fossil whales, one of whom is pretty close to you geographically.  I am probably pretty easy to find too for you...I am at the big university up the road from the college where you got your BA!

        •  Pretty sure I found you. (1+ / 0-)

Can't remember if we've met. Evenings at SVP tend to be a little...hazy!

I have published several papers with who I presume was your undergraduate sed/strat and paleobiology professor, who is a good friend of mine.  We have been getting sushi together once every 6-12 weeks for the last 11 years!

If we have not met (or perhaps if we have), I suspect we will meet (again) at a future meeting!

...although we met once, years ago. My wife was still a student in that department when he started there.

We still make it up that way on occasion, visiting friends and looking at rocks, and I hope to again in the next year or so.
