Rove and Norguist have pretty much won. The debate now is not about how the federal government can improve the lives of most Americans, but about how much and how quickly already inadequate basic services should be reduced.

We're all supposed to be bedazzled, befuddled, thrilled, terrified as we hurtle down the phony debt crisis water flume... as we watch our glorious leaders posture and caper, and weep and gnash their teeth with profound, grownup regret.

Squandering all of this effort on a deficit/debt "crisis" is almost totally driven by the financial capitalists who own our government. We can see how well austerity is working for them by looking to the UK. The UK is in the fourth dip of their recession. The 1% have got richer every year of the great UK depression.

I agree that going over the cliff is the least bad short term option. Maybe the reset will embolden those few left who have not drunk the austerity koolaid, but the Peterson cultists are intent on their "shared sacrifice"... This country is being stolen and sent to the chop shop. That's the plan anyway.
