Boner will hate it, but it's there.  He can retain his position as Speaker and the 'pubs will remain the nominal majority party, but the governing majority of the House will have to be composed of the Democrats (who will follow Leader Pelosi because she knows how to be a party leader) and enough rational 'pubs to compose a majority of the whole House.  The Teabaggers will be marginalized and the few remaining rational Republicans will be able to prevent the Democrats from running the House outright.

It will be easier, come next week, because the 'pub majority will be smaller and many of the departures will be from the Teabagger faction.  This is one of the reasons I believe the President should wait until next week to propose anything substantive.

That's the only way I can see the Congress functioning for the next two years.

I think in the next Congress there will be enough 'pubs who are not in bed with the Teabaggers to constitute a slim majority with the Democrats on an issue-by-issue basis.  You'd get a lot of things passing by 218-225 votes, but that's enough to end the gridlock.  The 'pubs' interest in this is saving their party, or at least some of it, from the shellacking they're getting from the voters in 2014 if this crap keeps up.

20-25 'pubs would have to vote with the Democrats to constitute a majority in the House that convenes on Jan. 3, 2013.

    •  I ask this again and again, but my question (0+ / 0-)

remains:  when does this kind of obstructionism become sedition?  These people aren't representing their constituents, they are actively doing whatever they can do to make the government dysfunctional, and are not upholding their oath of office.

When does what they're doing become sedition?

Sedition: Crime of creating a revolt, disturbance, or violence against lawful civil authority with the intent to cause its overthrow or destruction.

The only previous time in our history we encountered anything like this was in 1860 and we all know what it took to settle the matter for that time.
