  •  Looks Like More Drama for 2013. (9+ / 0-)

I'm not sure whether to be more frustrated with Congress for their corruption or with the public for their complicity by voting for people who have no interest in a functioning government.

    •  Well, we'd have to have actual choices (0+ / 0-)

a variety of people who could actually win. Meaning a variety of people who have enough money to win.

When you offer people the choice between Claire McCaskill and Todd Akin, you can't hardly blame them if the winner of the contest isn't much good. The only thing you can hope for is that the winner of the contest isn't irredeemably horrible.  When you gerrymander districts so that it's almost impossible to unseat an incumbent, at least not without beaucoup bucks, you can't blame the electorate for that.

These are issues of campaign finance and issues of gerrymandering and institutional--read state party machine--corruption.

Then there's party corruption at the federal level

Honestly, it's surprising anyone decent ever gets this job.
