  •  I know how to fix one problem you're noting (11+ / 0-)

It was strength in numbers and no one got robbed anymore.  But, some fucking bean counter somewhere with no clue about what we actually do, decided that two-man-territory helper tickets were a misallocation of resources and needed to be ended.  Evidently, safety in the field was a great thing to pay lip service to but was considered a waste of money to someone staring at spreadsheets all day in a cubicle.
can be fixed with one robbed and injured worker, one very expensive lawsuit, and one very unhappy insurance risk manager having a long talk with the spreadsheet-starer.

Looking forward to the next installment.

    •  That's a hard fix (8+ / 0-)

Justice is very elusive, when the opponent has mega bucks.

This type of management has become popular in business circles, but I believe that the tide is turning on this. Here's the reason: Businesses need to be able to grow at times. When they do the surplussing and paring down of the workforce, they have cut themselves off at the knees for growth.

When viewed over a longer time, the money they save with austerity measures will cost them even more.

I think that DuzT's company is using antiquated business strategy. Especially in communications, no recession there!
