If that is really GOP plan - it will FAIL bigtime. First people will see their paychecks shrink in one swell foop ( fiscal cliffiness ) then their relatives who lost unemployment will move in - then their grocery bill will balloon catastrophically ~

Good way to remind the populace that government used to work and that it reallyreally matters!

    •  I dunno. (12+ / 0-)

One article I read recently pointed out that the Republican mindset of "personal responsibility" can be very ego-rewarding to those who are at all successful, because it implies that YOU, not anyone or anything else, are responsible for your success; YOU SUCCEEDED, not anyone else who helped you on the way.  To you all the glory, to you the bragging rights.  Therefore Republicans are psychologically incapable of crediting the government for having made their lives easier.  THEY did it all.  Nobody else did, and certainly not no fewkin' gubment.

Of course, when it all goes away, they won't credit that it was there before because the Gub'ment did its job.  What they will feel (remember that feeling is where it's at) is that THEY SUCCEEDED, THEY worked hard and prospered, and then the gub'ment screwed up and TOOK IT AWAY.  So just another reason to hate government, all government, and assume that it's actively responsible for having done wrong, not passively responsible for having failed to do right.

The Republican mindset is pretty well insulated from reality and logic.
