    to say.  The numbers suggest that the "invaders" actually supplied more females than males, which suggests at least initially a continuation of the original power structure and land tenure.  But they're close enough to even, that the difference might not be significant.  However, if you saw a vast preponderance of male "newcomer" genes in the Y-chromosome lineage and female "oldster" genes in the mtDNA, THAT (which is not what we have) would support the idea of an invasion, primarily by young men taking local women.  Above all, these data suggest a peaceful transition that respected existing male power, but was numerically overwhelming.
