  •  Carrying a gun should come with at least as many (13+ / 0-)

licensing and insurance requirements as driving a motor vehicle.

I guess that will require Alito, Thomas, or Scalia to be replaced with a non-ideologue, sane person.

Reaganomics noun pl: belief that unregulated capitalism can produce unlimited goods for unlimited people on a planet with finite resources and we the people can increase revenue by decreasing revenue.

cars can be dangerous if you have an accident. They are powerful and can kill in the wrong hands even though that is not their main purpose

GUns are also powerful and can kill...but they were designed to kill.

Young people in many states wanting the privlege to drive a car need to take a safety class with classroom content and experiential content. Then they take a written test and a performance test. The have physical test(s) (eye check etc) to be sure their health status is safe to operate a car. If older your previous drivign record also comes into play.

So there are background checks, health checks, safety and knowledge based tests...an age limit.  In Israel...where there are a lot of guns but much less per gun homicides, I read that they have the same hoops to jump through to get a gun liscense...including physical and mental health checks and background checks as well as skill and safety test. Then they have to renew it yearly IIRC...and are only allowed one gun per person with few exceptions.

It is crazy we don't have same with guns. Second amendment gives right to own arms but it doesn't say it can't be regulated. Even the current SC says so!
