For reasons of personal safety (and a perceived sense of situational comfort) I'd like to know if the patron behind me is packin' heat. Dubious gun rights like concealed carry in a public business establishment should not trump my right to a sense of public safety.

Where I was born and raised (Pennsylvania) even hunters had to separate the guns & ammo on route to or from a hunting trip by keeping the latter in the trunk and the former unloaded in the back seat while on a public thoroughfare.

I know that it's kinda like comparing apples to oranges here but if a huge 2nd amendment state like PA makes certain concessions in the name of public safety and general peace of mind for non-hunters; then business establishments elsewhere in the country (even unenlightened "red" states could certainly allay the fears of patrons who aren't comfortable around loaded firearms while eating in a restaurant or having a drink with friends in a bar through a simple public notice on their door.

    That's really all I'm saying.
