    My wife and I have agreed after several attempts that paddling together in the same craft is not a good idea.  And that was just straightforward paddling.  If I kept asking her to hold the boat in position while I took photographs there is no telling what might happen....

    To be clear my wife likes to go birding but she has no interest in photography at all.

      We all love photography though my husband is more an insect man than a bird man for photos. But he'll sit in a kayak for hours as long as he has a pair of binoculars.

        When I was younger, I didn't have a camera and I thought that people who took a lot of pictures were concentrating too much on the photos and not 'experiencing the moment'.

        When I started traveling more I realized I was missing out by not having photos of my experiences.  Like you husband I am more of a close-up photo person.  My wife keeps me from going overboard - getting a good balance between taking photos and just being there.
