but that's BS.  wtf does milk in coffee have to do with manliness?

    •  you'd have to ask my Dad that question (3+ / 0-)

he had similarly strong views about not adultering a cup of joe with sugar.

My main issue with cream or milk in coffee is that, unless the coffee itself is strong and dark roast, adding cream can make it too weak tasting for me.

Oregon: Sure...it's cold. But it's a damp cold.

That's what I meant.  It was so common to have views like that though, and I realize that some have strong feelings about putting things into good coffee. But some of it is just that macho thing, and what good does that do anyone?  I'm glad that times are changing and some of that "real men do this or real men do that" stuff is fading away.

Like colors, for instance.  Why should boys or men not be able to have or wear things that are pink?  It's an arbitrary thing, some rule that somebody decided to impose on everyone else that means nothing.

It is, however, a good thing to be able to and even enjoy drinking coffee or tea with no sugar or cream because there are times when there is no good sugar or cream available.  I'd rather drink my tea without cream than have it with those plastic half n half creamer things or that powdered stuff.  I used to use it when it was the only thing available but I've gotten spoiled now, I guess.  Like you with coffee, I like a strong cup of British or Indian tea, so in my case, it can handle the cream.
