  •  It's far out. (14+ / 0-)

Spend a Lot of money on labor saving devices - then, Drive to the gym, to use weight machines that mimic physical work.  No sense to it.  A poor use of energy.
And just as importantly - people miss the connection to the physical world.  When you walk somewhere, you feel how far it is in your muscles, and the trip then carries the proper weight in your mind.   As it is, most people swan around through physical space as if they are players in a vast video game - where the only connection between here and there is a kind of circuitry that runs on fossil fuel and access to money.  Like:  driving to the gym.  Or:  flying across the continent for a weekend wedding.

people exercise their bodies as if they're taking the Chihuahua out for a walk.

“Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
