  •  I've been in some really terrific hospitals (6+ / 0-)

    and some pretty awful hospitals both as a patient and a advocate/visitor and in the cases where the level and quality of care was what I considered less than adequate the cause was slashing of the budget and staffing of nurses.

    I've waited hours for pain meds and been subjected to an unwillingness to bathe me after having an "accident" while still under the effects of an epidural anesthetic. While I insist on being there for family while they are in the hospital, I am single and am stubborn when it comes to asking for help/company while admitted.

    I will say that while I;ve has some good doctors, some not so good doctors and some downright creeps as doctors, it has always been the nursing/cna staff that has always made the hospital stays bearable to downright pleasant (or as pleasant as they could be).
