  •  Once again, there is no BAN proposed. (3+ / 0-)

This merely allows the states to regulate weapons within their state.

The ban comes later, or maybe not at all.  But once we have the federal law on our side it becomes possible.

As it is now, it can't happen because of the conservative and implacable congress/SCOTUS.

regulate (or don't) firearms.  I live in Connecticut.  I had to be fingerprinted, have a background check, take a safety course and pay for a permit.  And even with that -- if I fuck up in some way -- domestic violence, felony, mentally instable -- I can have my license suspended temporarily or permanently.

With all those regulations, we've had the mass murder in Newtown and cops who have killed their spouses/domestic partners.  So, where do you want to go from there?

      •  Well, for a start we could... (2+ / 0-)

not have to worry about the supreme court enabling the NRA.

Regulations are meaningless without strong enforcement, as the NRA likes to point out, then do everything they can to block said enforcement.

Microstamping is a possibility.  Numerous other possibilities exist which should be examined and explored.

Once we get rid of the 2nd amendment, which is the fallback position on all of these issues.
