a stomach virus going around in Nov.  She had to go to the ER and get IV's.  Several people I know got a particularly nasty form of stomach virus about that same time.

Different people have different immunity, recuperative powers, and stamina.  Don't forget that the Secretary had been doing a lot of traveling before she came down with the virus.  According to TV reports, the Sect. had mentioned being tired, and the reporter said that was unusual for her.

    •  It is such an obvious risk, though. (1+ / 0-)

If I was that rich and important, I would have a lot better health care. Every time I so much as sneezed, I would get a checkout.

Even if HC was on an airplane, I am pretty sure that they let you land anywhere if you have a medical emergency.

Not to be gross, but the fluids leave your body in an obvious way, so it is not like you have no reason to suspect that you might get dehydrated.

It is understandable for a private individual to get dehydrated, but a millionaire Secretary of State who is surrounded by aids? I don't get it.

...own ways.  Some people get medical care right away, others "tough it out" until they have to go to the doctor.

I know that when I'm really, really sick, the last place I want to be is the ER, especially in the middle of the night or on a weekend.

We really don't know what exactly happened to her or when it happened, or how quickly she went from being hydrated enough to being dehydrated.

She's a very smart woman, and no doubt if she had recognized exactly how ill she was, she would have gotten medical care.
