    Why not try and convince conservative voters in 2014 to vote Democratic one single time in order to send a message to the GOP that they want their party back. Tell them to 'lie' to the pollsters so that the establishment couldn't even see it coming even if they had hired all the Nate Silvers in this world.

      A better solution, if you really want to reduce Republican dominance, is to push for moderate Republicans to vote Libertarian.  Most gerrymandered districts can't afford a deep split in the (slightly) dominant party, and such a split would elect a lot of Democrats.

        as to the viability of that approach. Any other strategy is probably better, as long as it makes people vote, but not Republican (...just drives home the message a lot better).

        My point is simply to really go after them and not leave it at business at usual.
