    Guess why Texas has a legislature that reacts to the wealthy people, banks and large corporations which dominate the state?

    That $7,200 per year has been the amount since WW II. It's in the State Constitution. It sharply limits the danger that a state rep will have to face a member of the general public in an election. No one but the lackey of some powerful organization can afford to run.

    The oil companies, banks, and utilities really like this system. The public doesn't even realize how badly they are fleeced.
