  •  Not only that (12+ / 0-)

Brokaw was all for raising the age for SS to 70, and cutting benefits!

The poor have to suffer with less, especially poor women, but $250,000 isn't much money!

That's when I had to turn it off. I started cussing and realized I could be bothering my sick spouse who was in bed in the other room suffering from the flu.

    •  I would agree to all that if Brokaw forgo's his (0+ / 0-)

pension, gives up his SS and agrees NEVER to show his face on TV again.

    •  I nearly choked (0+ / 0-)

When I heard him say that. I'm 65, and still working, but contemplating retirement. I like what i do, but I may be forced to retire pretty soon because it's close work and my eyes are not what they used to be. Then there's the bad ankle (old injury) that's making it harder and harder to climb out of the subway, the sometimes bad back that sometimes makes sitting all day at work miserable, the lower energy level... and I'm not a ditch-digger!

I like my work. I'm not whining. But I can't imagine that I'll still able to do this job in 5 years whether I want to or not.
