  •  Fewest Pardons, Most Drone Strikes (9+ / 0-)

Not exactly the kinds of things one would think he'd want to be remembered for.

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

    •  More pirates killed than Eisenhower. (11+ / 0-)

      Least use of telegrams.

More air travel mileage than Teddy Roosevelt and Andrew Jackson combined.

Not saying I'm a fan of the civil liberties policy set of the Obama presidency, but "most drone strikes" may have something more to do with the recent development of drone technology than Obama meglomania.

(Also, too: consideration of the sh-tstorm that would follow a successful Al-Qaeda style terrorist attack inside the United States on his watch.  Just a theory of mine.)

Drones haven't been around very long. It's a pretty safe bet that Obama would set a record for their usage simply because they're a new weapon, and not because he hates hippies.

Also, Obama is the Commander in Chief of the United States Military. The idea that there's something wrong with the head of our armed forces employing a weapon against our enemies is ridiculous.

Why is Obama obliged to use fewer weapons than his predecessors?  Why is Obama supposed to ideologically and militarily neuter himself?  Because people get killed?  Because people whose social privilege was purchased in blood are uncomfortable with the fact that people died for their purity and sanctimony?

Of course the President should use such weapons as a last resort, but the use of fewer weapons isn't necessarily more ethical or just.

Could you point me to where Congress has declared war against the enemies the President has hit with drone strikes?  I'm especially curious about drone strikes in Pakistan and Yemen.

Also, I wasn't aware that drones had the capacity yet to determine who was an "enemy combatant" yet.  Last time I checked, official Pentagon doctrine was that every dead male body over 18 years age was an "enemy combatant."  Hey, using that criteria, our drone program is a big success!
