I was first treated with warfarin, but a few months before Pradaxa was on the market, my cardiologist told me that there would soon be a better alternative that would not require modification to my vegetarian diet. When Pradaxa became available I was switched to it. No mention was ever made that there was no antidote to bleeding. Also not mentioned, but later found in the microscopic fine print on the package insert was the warning about esophageal pain. After about 6 weeks of treatment I experienced chest pain severe enough to think I was having a heart attack. I went back on warfarin which in itself has caused enough problems with various bumps and bruises.
