They also increased the estate tax to 40% from 35%.

the very rich saw a tax increase of about 14.9% (+2% on first 113k) while the middle and lower classes saw a tax increase of 2%.

I wish they had been able to cut taxes for middle class by 2% to make up for the payroll holiday, but what is done is done, and I will manage on $50 less a month.

The devil is in the details. The rich still keep their exemption for "unearned" income. (return on investment) There is a slight increase there. There is some kind of indexing on deductions. Damned if I know what that means to the bottom line.

The big picture is really obscure.

        •  all in all though (0+ / 0-)

everyone took a hit.  and it seems the rich more than the middle class.

and a hell of a lot lower than what the rates would have been if the Democrats did nothing.

    •  But both were due to go up an additonal (1+ / 0-)

      5%. Biden split the difference.
