    Infertility won in the end
(One solution on which we depend)
    I've got stepkids, all grown
But no kids of my own:
My support of the ZPG* trend :-[

I had never planned more than just two
I'm a treehugging girl, through and through
    Whether water or air
    We've got little to spare
(And who grabs more than 'mericans do?)

I was talking with friends just last week
When one mentioned "my goodness" and "eek!"
    At a six-child brood
    "That's insane! All that food!"
Prospects for our poor planet look bleak.

*zero population growth was a big deal back in the 1970's.

Those who do not understand history are condemned to repeat it... in summer school.

      And your line about
      'mericans,
      so true.

I look at it this way,
      there are monsters,
      stomping around,
creating more and more suffering and death.

They don't mean to do it,
      but they have such enormous
      carbon footprints,
      and they like to eat
      unlimited bacon and eggs.

The monsters are nearly all Americans,
      and all wealthy folks,
      all over the world.

Their victims are the humans in the poor countries.

      So.

      Anyone who's prosperous,
      and makes a baby,
      has just made another monster,
a monster who will cause suffering and death,
      for many decades to come.

      And anyone who's very poor,
      and makes a baby,
      has just made another victim,
      to be harmed or killed
      by the monsters.

      Thanks for our reply.
