  •  NOW what are you talking about? (12+ / 0-)

"Left it up to Boehner?"   You realize that the house has to vote on raising the debt limit?  How do you take it from him?  Cut and paste the constitution?

And no, caps don't make "it any better".  It just makes you pay ATTENTION AND MAKES EVERYONE NOTICE WHAT YOU"RE NOT DEALING WITH.

THE SHIT YOU PRETEND TO BE OBAMA'S GOAL HAS IN REALITY BEEN STAVED OFF BY HIM IN SUCCESSIVE STANDOFFS WITH THE REPUBLICANS.

And I read, and commented in, Kid Oakland's diary.  While having the grace to not claim that Obama's putting the fix in on SS and Medicare, like you do, the rest is a misunderstanding of taxes and putting slogans, memes, and some vague bull about "framing" over real money to real people. Here's what I said:

    Um. No. Memes, "frames" don't trump cash.(8+ / 0-)

All that talk about "enshrine" and "framing the debate" is the stuff of ideological noodlers with a disconnect from reality.

It's even worse for taxes: most americans don't understand their own taxes, much less the taxes of the rich.   Have you ever filled out a Schedule D?  Ever file a Form 3520?  No?  Than you have no idea.

The reality is, Obama made the tax structure more progressive.  Real as in dollars.

But go ahead and say, "let them eat framing!" while claiming that I don't care about poor people.  Fucking Jesus Mary and all the saints.

Q Mr. President, thank you. How do these negotiations affect negotiations or talks with Republicans about raising the debt limit? Because it would seem that they have a significant amount of leverage over the White House now, going in. Was there ever any attempt by the White House to include raising the debt limit as a part of this package?

THE PRESIDENT: When you say it would seem they'll have a significant amount of leverage over the White House, what do you mean?

Q Just in the sense that they'll say essentially we're not going to raise the -- we're not going to agree to it unless the White House is able to or willing to agree to significant spending cuts across the board that probably go deeper and further than what you're willing to do. I mean, what leverage would you have --

THE PRESIDENT: Look, here's my expectation -- and I'll take John Boehner at his word -- that nobody, Democrat or Republican, is willing to see the full faith and credit of the United States government collapse, that that would not be a good thing to happen. And so I think that there will be significant discussions about the debt limit vote. That's something that nobody ever likes to vote on. But once John Boehner is sworn in as Speaker, then he's going to have responsibilities to govern. You can't just stand on the sidelines and be a bomb thrower.

The House passed the tax cut deal and could have voted to raise the debt limit then but it was not put in as part of the deal because the POTUS trusted John Boehner with the full faith and credit of the US. That's what started this in 2010.

And the fact that you think Obama made taxes more progressive is just funny.

All I can think of is that you're back to the end of the payroll tax holiday...which you were against in the first place.   That's the only regressive change that's taken place.  You really are going out of your way to change your position JUST to bash the president.

Anyway, as to the debt limit, if you think Obama could have gotten Boner to give that away, you make your case.  By which I mean, you find someone somewhere to cut and paste.  Because what he got, at that time, was an extension of tax cuts and spending that helped the economy and working people.  And he didn't cut SS or Medicare, which you keep claiming is his real goal without explaining why he keeps passing it up.

        •  It started the debacle. these are facts (7+ / 0-)

Like the fact that leverage was there since the cuts were expiring which is why we was asked about it because it could have been in the deal. I wrote about this when it happened. They didn't need to be extended to pass unemployment insurance or the payroll  holiday as I said. And this tax cut sellout does not make taxes more progressive.

I know you and Tom Delay think internet research is outrageous!  You are a waste.

You're just making that up. You had to be dragged into admitting the history, won't concede that Obama has protected SS and medicare in standoff after standoff, can't blame him for the standoff, so you make up some shit about "leverage" because it's a buzzword that sounds like something a smart person might say.

            •  5th time you fail=It's the same standoff (0+ / 0-)

people that are too dense to understand that after being repeatedly explained donrt get to talk about multiple defenses of SS and Medicare when this is one long self induced battle that put both in the crossfire that's not over yet, yet here you are exclaiming victory on a battle you know nothing about because you think it's already over. That's pathetic.

It's not a buzzword, it's parliamentary procedure and the Bush tax cuts passing with reconciliation and expiring in 2010 before being extended by the POTUS without the debt ceiling. Republicans like the Bush tax cuts and some want them permanent. That's reality.
