    However, the president may have  noted the last time around that the crazy teabaggers who seemed really cool with defaulting ended up voting for the final bill.  It was the ultimate bluff on their part, and it worked.  But it won't work twice... if the president is smart.

      Two options now - scorch the Earth or capitulate.

      No tax rates to bargain with.

      If Dems hold firm on original 1.6T revenue proposal, lots of room to wiggle.

      No wiggle now.

      I suppose he could give more tax cuts later though.

        There's really no limit to what can be given up.  Having established the pattern of conceding to the Republicans, they have absolutely no incentive not to hold out.  They know that in the end, Obama will give them what they want.

        By this point, I frankly have to wonder if Obama doesn't agree with their views.  He certainly can't be bothered to take much of a stand against them.
