    banning gay marriage, and activists don't have much hope the GOP controlled legislature will move to repeal it anytime soon. (Understatement.)

    There is an alternate route through signature petitions. And a grassroots effort to kick it off had started last year. The bar is high, lots of signatures and from a high percentage of counties.

    Polling was really bad on marriage equality earlier this year, like just mid 30s percent supporting it. Then I saw about election time a poll that was about 50% or so, which was a really big, quick jump. I'd be skeptical, but the polling has been moving insanely fast on marriage equality, so maybe it wasn't a outlier.
