criticism of 'this deal' has to do with the policy (for many of us).

There ACTUALLY ARE folks who don't 'give a whit' about the personalities of the President, their Senators, their Representatives, etc.

We care about one thing--policy.  Why is it, that so many Democrats take criticism of Democratic politicians SO PERSONALLY?

I know that I could care less about ANY politician in a personal way.  I expect them to pass and/or implement the policy prescriptions that they run on.

Now, in President Obama's case, he has never presented himself as a progressive or liberal.  So, I have to agree that folks who are bitterly disappointed in his handling of "the deal" (and/or future handling of a 'Grand Bargain'), probably only have themselves to blame for their disappointment.

But, please, don't paint everyone with a broad brush.  Only a handful of politicians earn my respect, anymore, and unfortunately for me, the few that do, do not represent me.  IMO, many politicians could care less what their constituents think, or want.  They micro-target in order to get enough votes to hold onto their seats (and gerrymander, of course).

Anyway, I'd love to see the day that diarists and commenters can have honest policy disagreements, without impugning one another's motives.

Again, most of these politicians are not worth squabbling over.

Why don't we stick to "policy," and leave all the hyperbole about "personality" out of the equation?

    Just a thought . . .
