  •  I'm sorry (15+ / 0-)

maybe it's just I'm having a bad day, but it was a "close call" between John (get off my lawn, that one) McCain and Sarah (the dangerous numbskull) Palin?

Biden v. Palin one step removed from the Presidency was a "close call"?

Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. Barack Obama

for one example, Eisenhower, on this site, yes.

Frequently, one candidate is not really as bad and the other not really as ideal as one thinks.

I say that after having been alternately disappointed by or pleasantly surprised by quite a number of presidents for whom I have voted or not voted, respectively, since Nixon. For whom I did not vote, I should say. Quite rightly, as it turned out.

      Don't hate me!

Oh wait, hate me if you like. lol.

      •  I didn't equate Obama with (19+ / 0-)

        anyone.

If I didn't like Obama, there is no way in hell I would have voted for any ticket that included Sarah Palin.

She was not only clueless and unprepared (ask Steve Schmidt, who basically brought her to McCain), but in fact a cruel, race-baiting liar.  She stoked up crowds by implying Obama was not American, 'pal'd around with terrorists", blah blah - they shouted stuff like "kill [Obama]".  Even her own campaign told her to STFU, but she went "rogue".

She told us who she thought "real" Americans were, and they didn't include people like me.

She didn't freaking know geography, or history, or even what the role of a Vice President was.  She didn't even read the newspaper.

"Putin rears his head" I can see Russia from my house v. Joe fucking Biden?

        Seriously?

Not to mention that McCain and Obama disagreed on just about everything.  So if you believe in a set of policies, it was a pretty clear choice either way.

Whatever I feel about your choice, my point is that there is no way in hell choosing between those tickets was a "close call".

        •  I didn't say you did, (0+ / 0-)

I don't recall reading anything you wrote here before.

It's way in the past now anyway. I've let it go.

Have a great new year, I think we're all going to. Things are looking up just a little bit.
