    Perhaps he will inspire other Dems to remember what values they stand for and what their constituents need.

    Democratic Leaders must be very clear they stand with the working class of our country. Democrats must hold the line in demanding that deficit reduction is done fairly -- not on the backs of the elderly, the sick, children and the poor.

      a REAL Democrat.  I suspect that there are plenty of youngsters here who have never met or been served by a pre-Clinton Dem.  

      Reagan made sure that true liberals were discredited and often detested, which gave us all the Third Way crap.  Now it's those Third Way folks who the GOP love to demonize as the "radical" left.  Ha!  I'd love, just once, for them to encounter true radical lefties.  

      I don't always agree with Harkin but, like me, he's a throwback to a Democratic Party that believed in something, stood for something, fought for those things.
