  •  I tend to disagree with this, but it's well stated (0+ / 0-)

and worth a rec on that basis.  Of it's genre, it's very well done.

I realize that this is in terrible taste, but I think it's the right analogy: celebrating that we converted temporary tax cuts on all work income into permanent tax cuts on only the first $450,000/$400,000 of work income (plus the estate tax cut) is like celebrating that the fourth plane on 9/11 didn't hit its target in Washington DC.  Yes, that extremely important non-loss is absolutely to be celebrated -- but it also gets lost in the greater horror.

If the loss was preventable -- whether it was by heeding the "determined to strike in US" memo or by standing more firm and letting us go off of the cliff, to our general benefit -- then the horror becomes all the worse.

    •  Left something out, so I'll clarify: (0+ / 0-)

We're celebrating that Republicans had to break the Norquist tax pledge -- with Norquist's blessing, let's not forget.  Well, I don't care about that stupid pledge.  It's like celebrating because you convinced a Mormon to drink a beer.  It doesn't actually do anything to help you.
