  •  FlashfyreSP had it around Halloween. (0+ / 0-)

He stayed home from work for a week solid -- first time I have ever seen my husband that sick.  I had to take him to the doc-in-a-box for cough syrup and an inhaler.  I was terrified I'd get it.

He eventually got better -- he has a really tough immune system.  I breathed a sigh of relief, much too soon.  Lo and behold, I came down with it exactly one week before Christmas.

I still think it started some sort of influenza.  I had fever, shaking, chills, glop that would not drain, no appetite.  I finally started to feel a bit more human Christmas Eve, but by Thursday last week I was coughing so hard FSP had to sleep in the guest room.  Friday morning he put his foot down, and off I went to the doc-in-a-box.  They took X-rays, ran a nasal swab culture, then put me on a breathing treatment that left me dizzied and shaking.  Then they sent me home with antibiotics, a codeine-based cough syrup and an inhaler.

I still have a bit of a cough, but it's really not bad now.  The worst thing is that I feel so run down.  I have very little appetite, to the point that I have lost six pounds over the last two weeks.  At this point I am just about resigned to being susceptible to whatever-the-hell-it-is until spring and warmer weather.

My sister also has it in North Florida.  She's been sick for three weeks, which is very dangerous for an asthmatic.  I'm very worried about her.
