    are willing to take a seed back and hammer it open.  The lazy, deadbeat Red-breasted Nuthatches sit there and toss seed after seed on the ground until they find one without a hull, then they fly off with that one.  

    I do have sunflower hearts and peanuts and suet out there, but that doesn't stop the RBNUs from engaging in their sorting and rejecting behavior with the black oil seeds.

    Guess the ground-feeders don't mind the RBNUs' picky ways.

      Sounds like you've got some spoiled red-breasted nuthatches. I'd say, you're doing it right. Good birding to ya.
