  •  we have to cut the military in this country (11+ / 0-)

and while I'm not sure this congressman is the right one to lead that charge - it'd probably provide some serious fodder for paranoid islamophobes - somebody has got to do it.

We have an insane number of military bases, costing billions each to maintain. We have defense contractors spending billions more making things that don't make sense in the least efficient possible way. Defense is eating this country from within.

The media loves to show the "'overpriced" bathrooms at Yosemite while we're robbed blind over in the pentagon. It's sick.

Please maintain those defense cuts as much as you possibly can.

    •  I wanna know why we need... (4+ / 0-)

      ELEVEN Carrier Strike Groups....

(and I'm by no means naive about what the Navy needs, I know that the whole Navy can't be at sea all the time, but ELEVEN seems kinda much...)

Do we have any Kossack Anchor Clankers that can comment intelligently about this?

I don't want to hurt the Navy, but ELEVEN?

Yes, I mean that in earnest.

If we stop invading other nations for sport, there's no reason to have super-carriers.

No one else has them.  Smaller carriers offer much more versatility for the same dollar.

They're the equivalent of building battleships in 1945, or tall castles in 1650.
