      -- $15-billion spending cuts, mostly wanted

      -- Many nominations approved

      -- Debt limit now joined-at-hip with the "sequester" issue

      -- Filibuster reform aimed toward restoring physical filibusters

      -- Social Security is now off the general revenue budget (which was a Democratic Party initiative)

      It's all for context. You need to keep it at the forefront that this is a 40:1 ratio revenue-to-cuts deal.

      Nothing during the run up to this deal from anybody had a result with more than a 3:1 ratio. But once the Bush tax cuts expired, the Republicans panicked. They took the short end of the stick on every money issue.
